Signup Batching Deadline Announced for Alabama’s NRCS Landscape Initiatives

State Conservationist for Alabama Ben Malone announced that October 19, 2018 is the signup batching date for producers for 2019 program funding for national landscape initiatives focused on gopher tortoise habitat, longleaf pine restoration and water quality.

Auburn University’s Beth Prior Named 2018 SWCS Scholar

Auburn University (AU) senior, Beth Prior, has been named the Alabama Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society’s 2018 Scholarship Recipient. Prior is the recipient of the $2,000 academic scholarship that will help her in her studies in the College of Engineering.

Roanoke Couple Recognized as Alabama 2018 Small Farmers of the Year

Gene and Rose Thornton of Roanoke, Alabama have been named the Alabama NRCS 2018 Small Farmers of the Year. The annual award was presented to the Thorntons at the 75th Annual AACD Conference in Huntsville.
