NRCS H&H Tools & Models

NRCS maintains several tools and software programs to support hydrologic and hydraulic analysis. These include:

Engineering Field Handbook, Chapter 2 (EFH-2) for estimating runoff volume and peak discharge.

WinTR-20, a single event, watershed-scale runoff and routing model that applies to both urban and agricultural areas.

WinTR-55, a single event, small watershed rainfall-runoff model that applies to both urban and agricultural areas.

WinDAM, used to estimate erosion of earthen embankments and auxiliary spillways of dams.

These tools are available for download from the NRCS Tech Tools page.

NRCS employees can download and install these tools from Software Center.

The NRCS Engineering Tool Suite (NETS) is a framework of design tools for use by NRCS employees to plan and design commonly applied conservation practices such as terraces, grassed waterways, water and sediment control basins, underground outlets, and several others. Peak discharge estimation can be performed in NETS.
