Santa Cruz River Watershed Site #1

Finding Of No Significant Impact (FONSI)

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in New Mexico and the Santa Fe-Pojoaque Soil and Water Conservation District (SFPSWCD) have developed the Santa Cruz River Watershed Site #1 – Final Supplemental Watershed Plan No. 4-Environmental Assessment.  The purpose of the action is to provide continued flood protection (flood damage reduction) preventing runoff, erosion, and sediment damages in the currently protected area downstream of the dam up to the 100-year event, and to meet current State of New Mexico and NRCS engineering safety standards. There is a need for continued protection to land (farms, ranches and non-ag land), homes, businesses, roads and other community infrastructure, from flooding related damages.

The official comment period for this project ended on February 10, 2020.  Any questions or comments about this project may be directed to Ayana Brown at ayana.brown@usda.gov.
