The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $70 million in partnerships that will improve outreach to underserved producers and communities to expand access to conservation assistance, including programs funded by the Inflation Reduction Act, as well as career opportunities.

Southwest Iowa farmer Brent Leighton is utilizing assistance through USDA’s Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) to continue his family’s conservation legacy by adopting practices that reduce soil erosion, improve water quality, mitigate climate change, and add wildlife habitat to their 3,500-acre family farm.
Today’s announcement and the broader federal strategy will support the effective implementation of these climate and conservation investments and help further President Biden’s bold goal of achieving a 50-52 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, compared to 2005 levels.
