Heidi Ramsey, State Conservationist

Heidi Ramsey is the NRCS Nevada state conservationist, headquartered in Reno, Nevada. Ramsey began her career with NRCS in 2009 as a student intern in Española, New Mexico. She later served as a rangeland management specialist in Susanville, California; district conservationist in Holden, Massachusetts; Western Governors’ Association liaison and Watershed Programs manager based in Denver, Colorado; and assistant state conservationist for field operations in Red Bluff, California. Ramsey has served in numerous detail capacities at the local, state, national, and departmental levels. Her most recent detail in 2022 was serving as the National Drought Resilience Partnership executive officer. Prior to Federal service, Ramsey spent over a decade in the private sector specializing in both business marketing and customer service.

Heidi received her Bachelor of Science in Rangeland Resource Science from Cal Poly Humboldt, in California, and her Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governors’ University in Utah. Ramsey belongs to and participates in many professional organizations including Women in NRCS (WiN), the National Organization of Professional Hispanic NRCS Employees (NOPHNRCSE), Society for Range Management, and the Soil and Water Conservation Society. 

Ramsey is at home in the wide-open spaces of the West. She is from California and her family’s cattle ranch was near Wells, Nevada. She enjoys spending time outdoors watching wildlife, hiking, and botanizing when given the chance.
