Cows eating

Feed management is using an assortment of tools, including regular analysis of feeds, milk, and manure to more frequently review nutritional diet formulas, to reduce the uncertainties of feed delivery. This process enables maintenance efficiency, improvement in milk production, and/or increased health of livestock. Decreases or stabilizing Nitrogen and Phosphorus nutrient levels in the manure are key objectives.

NRCS is offering this management practice through its Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) to help farmers improve feed management.
