A draft Technical Note detailing soil health indicators and associated laboratory methods are in the Federal Register for public review and comment. NRCS is accepting comments on this Technical Note through December 13, 2018.

Tennessee NRCS Welcomes New State Conservationist

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is pleased to welcome Mr. Sheldon L. Hightower as the new State Conservationist in Tennessee. Hightower will replace Kevin Brown, who retired in January 2018, as the eighth State Conservationist to serve in Tennessee.

USDA Invests in 22 New Projects to Spur Innovation

USDA will invest more than $10.6 million for 22 new projects that will drive public and private sector innovation in conserving natural resources in 27 states, including Tennessee, through its competitive Conservation Innovation Grants program.

2018 Omnibus Bill Nixes DUNS and SAM Requirements for Farmers

Effectively immediately, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) financial assistance program participants will no longer need a Dun and Bradstreet Universal Number System (DUNS) number, or to register in the System for Award Management (SAM).
