Congratulations to Samantha Martinez, Rangeland Management Specialist in Team 7 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. Samantha was selected as the NRCS New Mexico Employee of the Month for May 2024.

In addition to performing her regular duties she is was a contributing team member and helped develop advertisement material for The Spirit of Hidalgo "Explore Hidalgo" outdoor education and economic development event for which she provided demonstrations and presentations highlighting conservation. Partners included 4-H, Hidalgo Chamber of Commerce, and Continental Divide Trail Gateway community, among many others. Sam represented NRCS by presenting the Rolling Water River Trailer during the event and educating the masses on soil and water erosion and conservation techniques.

As a result of her efforts, the culture, conservation, and nature opportunities unique to Hidalgo County, NM were presented to over 312 residents and visitors. She projected a positive image of NRCS and educated the public on how the agency can work with them to address natural resources concerns.
