NRCS Announces 2nd CSP IRA Sign-up for FY2025

The program provides many benefits, including increased crop yields, decreased inputs, wildlife habitat improvements and increased resilience to adverse weather.

Lincoln, Neb., January 27, 2025 –State Conservationist Robert Lawson announced today that the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is accepting applications for a second signup for Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Interested participants have until March 7, 2025 to apply.

Through CSP, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) helps farmers, ranchers and forest landowners earn payments for expanding conservation activities while maintaining agricultural production on their land. CSP also encourages adoption of new technologies and management techniques.

The program provides many benefits, including increased crop yields, decreased inputs, wildlife habitat improvements and increased resilience to adverse weather. CSP is for working lands, including cropland, pastureland, rangeland, nonindustrial private forest land and agricultural land under Indian tribe jurisdiction.

“Participation in our conservation programs is completely voluntary. We offer assistance that can help make farming and ranching operations more sustainable while conserving the natural resources like soil and water on which all Nebraskans depend,” said Lawson.

These funds will expand access to financial and technical assistance for producers to advance conservation on their farm, ranch or forest land through practices like cover cropping, conservation tillage, wetland restoration, prescribed grazing, nutrient management, tree planting and more.

While applications are accepted throughout the year, interested applicants should submit applications to their local NRCS office by March 7, 2025 to ensure their CSP IRA applications are considered for FY 2025 funding.

For additional information about CSP or to apply, landowners should contact their local NRCS office at the USDA Service Center for their county. For more information, visit our website at www.nrcs.usda.gov/ne.
