WOLF RIVER WATERSHED PROJECT: PUBLIC MEETING #1 MEETING SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 1, 2025

The Natural Resources Conservation Service in Kansas is holding the first public meeting for the Wolf River Watershed Project. The project involves completing a supplemental Environmental Assessment document for the Wolf River Watershed Dam Sites No. 12-26 and No. 19-8 in Brown County, Kansas.  T

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Kansas is holding the first public meeting for the Wolf River Watershed ProjectThe Wolf River Watershed Project involves completing a supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA) document for the Wolf River Watershed Dam Sites No. 12-26 and No. 19-8 in Brown County, Kansas. The meeting will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at The Alley (1000 S. 1st Street) in Hiawatha. The meeting will be an open house; community members are welcome to stop by anytime during the two-hour timeframe. No formal presentation will be given.

During the meeting, the public will be able to review exhibits that describe the project’s schedule, existing conditions, and other information. Representatives from the USDA-NRCS and the consultant team will be present to listen to comments and answer questions. Anyone interested in the project is encouraged to attend the meeting and share their thoughts. We welcome the public’s comments on potential project issues, concerns, impacts, and benefits. 

Community participation is important to the successful development of the supplemental EA document. If members of the public are unable to participate in the meeting, but would like to provide written comments, please submit your response by Friday, May 2, 2025
