In cooperation with Middle Creek Watershed Joint District No. 62, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announces a 30-day public review period for a Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA) for Middle Creek Watershed Site 11 in Marion County, Kansas.  The EA evaluates potential alternatives for a proposed floodwater retarding dam (FRD) at this site.  This assessment was conducted in consultation with local, State, and Tribal governments, Federal Agencies, as well as interested organizations and individuals.  NRCS provides technical and financial assistance to local project sponsors under the authority of the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act, Public Law 83-566, in accordance with Section 102(2)(c) of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, Public Law 91-190, as amended (42 USC 43221 et seq.).  

Sponsoring local organizations of this project are the Middle Creek Watershed Joint District No. 62, Chase County Conservation District, Marion County Conservation District, and Morris County Conservation District.
