Improved forage production
- Evaluate the establishment and management of warm-season grasses for adaptability to marginal Appalachian soils. Pasture grasses are evaluated for seeding rates, planting and harvest dates, and planting techniques.
IMPROVING WATER QUALITY
Buffer strips and riparian areas
- Promote healthy riparian buffer strips using adapted and effective native plants.
- Technical information developed on the utilization of native plants in riparian buffer systems.
DECLINING WILDLIFE HABITAT
Enhancing wildlife resources
- Improve wildlife habitat through the evaluation of native forbs, legumes, and shrubs for establishing wildlife food plots using commercially available plants and seed.
