In the News
- The East Texas Plant Materials Center services 44 million acres across four states. The mission of the center is to develop conservation plants and technology to support the NRCS mission and field office staff. The ETPMC works with other PMCs throughout the southeastern US to test and develop conservation plant releases to create a much larger conservation footprint and streamline efficiency of conservation plant development. Testing areas of adaptation for conservation plant releases allows for a much larger area of use, making these products more attractive to commercial producers, reduces the need for duplicate releases of the same species, and gives conservation planners across the southeast more plant choices when designing conservation plantings. While providing these services, the ETPMC also strives to provide outreach on the benefits of the proper management of wildlands, benefits of native plants, and stacking of benefits to produce multiple products from the land versus single product land use.
