The USDA - Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) of South Dakota invites you or your representative to a webinar Wednesday, June 21, at 2:00 CST/1:00 MST (agenda and link below). The webinar will focus on the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) and showcase several Tribes’ use of the program.  The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) doubles funding available to the USDA NRCS through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program, and $50 million is being made available to Tribal governments. This webinar will give tribal leadership, tribal natural resource staff, and tribal agriculture staff an opportunity to discuss how this program can contribute to a Tribe’s natural resource and land stewardship efforts. Discussion will include the benefits of self-governance aspects of the RCPP Alternative Funding Arrangements (AFA).

Acknowledgements:

  • We greatly appreciate the willingness of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and Conservation Resource Alliance staff to share their successes, experiences, and perspectives on the RCPP Program.
  • If you get a chance prior to the meeting, check out their video Restoring Aquatic Ecosystems  in Northwest Lower Michigan.  It is a remarkable story of one way that the RCPP program can contribute to Tribal Nation stewardship efforts.
