Join NRCS Oregon and conservation partners at the Siuslaw Local Work Group meeting. The goal is to bring together individuals with a variety of expertise and knowledge allowing NRCS and others to build on our collective successes while focusing our efforts to make the greatest impact with our available staff and funding.
This meeting is being held in-person and virtually on Zoom. See meeting agenda linked below.
We need your help to:
- identify where the best investments can be made to address natural resource problems in our area,
- share the work that has already been done in the county over the last year, and
- share your vision for what the county will look like when these natural resource concerns have been solved.
Current NRCS funding strategies include:
- Local Foods and Food Systems Resilience Initiative
- Upper Yaquina Water Quality Initiative
- Siuslaw Floodplain Reconnection Strategy
- Forest Resistance & Resilience Initiative
- Forest Management Planning
- High Tunnel and Organic Initiatives
- Conservation Stewardship Program
- Wetland Reserve Easement Program
Potential future funding strategies/ideas include:
- Native Olympia oyster restoration, perhaps through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program
- National Water Quality Initiative – Siletz Basin Source Water Area Plan implementation
The NRCS Waldport Field Office updated our Long Range Plan in 2024—you can read/download it here. We appreciate all of your input in developing/updating this plan, and we'll continue to update it with resource concerns and priorities identified by the Local Work Group at future meetings.
