Organic Management Practice Standard 823
Iowa Organic Association is teaming up with NCRS to deliver an informational webinar on Wednesday, May 31 at noon to provide an overview and space for discussion about the new NRCS Organic Management Interim Conservation Practice Standard (823).
The NRCS Organic Management Interim Conservation Practice (OMS) will provide both technical support and a sizable financial incentive for organic transitioning and certified producers who meet the required criteria.
The Standard will provide technical and financial support for producers in organic transition and production and offers a sizeable incentive for organic operations that meet the Standard ($200-600/acre depending on your OPS).
Since this is a new Standard for farmers and for field staff – we have coordinated this webinar to share what we know about OMS 823 and to address questions or comments to help streamline the process for this first round of applications. June 15th deadline for acres in organic transition; certified producers are encouraged to apply as soon as possible! Apply at your county NRCS office.
