Do I have to attend in-person to apply?

No, you do not have to attend the career fairs to be considered for these positions. All applications need to be submitted online through USA JOBS. Attending in-person provides the opportunity to speak directly with hiring officials, which can be beneficial if you haven’t held a federal job before. It will also give you the opportunity to possibly receive tentative job offers on the spot. Qualified applicants will be considered regardless of being present at the event. Check out the USAJOBS Help Center for instructions and procedures on how to apply through USA JOBS

Do I have to apply online in advance?

No. However, all applications need to be submitted online through USA JOBS, by the closing date of the event (April 25, 2024) to be considered. Applying in advance will also expedite scheduling an in-person interview during the event. During the career fairs, hiring officials will be available onsite to answer questions, review resumes, conduct interviews and help you navigate the application process.

Do I need experience to apply?

Most of the available positions are entry level and require no prior experience. For more information about exceptions, please carefully read the requirements in the job listing on USA JOBS.

What do I need to bring with me?

  • Complete resume (preferably one built within USA JOBS Resume Builder linked to your USA JOBS account).
  • University Transcripts - You must submit a copy of your transcripts, in English, that include course number, title, completion, and grade. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for it to be credited towards qualifications.
    • If you have not yet conferred your degree or certificate but will within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement, a letter from the school documenting current standing, degree being obtained and expected graduation date must be submitted with your application.
  • Military records (DD214, VA Letters), if applicable
  • Recommendation letters, if available
  • Laptop or tablet, recommended
  • Pen and paper

How soon will I know if I’ve been hired?

Some tentative job offers may be made onsite. Other applicants will be notified a couple weeks following the event.

How long should I expect to be there?

The entire process could involve several hours. Registering and applying online in advance will reduce the amount of time you need to spend at the career fair. You’ll also have opportunities to visit the booth, talk with conservation professionals, and learn more about conservation careers during the event.
