October 10, 2023 – Gainesville, Florida – The Farmers Recovery Center venue scheduled to open Wednesday, October 11, from 9 a.m. to 3:00pm, has been relocated to the Suwannee River Fair Pavilion at 17851 NW 90th Ave, Fanning Springs.
Originally scheduled for the Dixie County Public Library at 16328 SE US-19 in Cross City, the venue was changed to accommodate a larger space due to the interest of the public.
At the Farmers Recovery Center, agricultural landowners can learn about disaster assistance programs available for farmers and meet with representatives from USDA Farm Service Agency, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, USDA Rural Development, and U.S. Small Business Administration.
The Farmers Recover Center will be located at the currently open Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Recovery Center. FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers provide disaster survivors with information from Florida state agencies and federal agencies, FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Survivors can get help applying for federal assistance and disaster loans, update applications and learn about other resources available.
There are several centers open in the area impacted by Hurricane Idalia. Persons needing assistance do not have to go to a center in their county; they can visit any open center. Find a Disaster Recovery Center online at: DRC Locator (https://egateway.fema.gov/ESF6/DRCLocator ) or floridadisaster.org, or by texting DRC along with a Zip Code to 43362.
It is not necessary to visit a center. Survivors can apply online at disasterassistance.gov, use the FEMA mobile app or call 800-621-3362. The line is open every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET. Help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.
