The Belknap County Conservation District in New Hampshire, along with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will hold a Local Working Group (LWG) meeting on March 28, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:30pm. This meeting is open to all that wish to attend.

Local working groups allow the community to discuss and come to a consensus on conservation initiatives important in their district.  The purpose of a ‘Local Work Group’ meeting is to assess the natural resource management needs of Belknap County in an open dialogue with citizens, natural resource organizations and government agencies.

The information gathered at this event will be factored into guidance directing funding and allocation decisions for NRCS, the Conservation District, and potential other natural resource-based programs in the County.

Recommendations are forwarded to the State Technical Committee who work together with the NRCS to provide guidance on matters important to the citizens of the Granite State. Your voice can make an impact on funding and allocation decisions for New Hampshire NRCS programs in 2025.

Meeting Objective: Listen to organizations, agencies and citizens share their input on the following:

  1.  Values on the importance of natural resource conservation in Belknap County
  2. Perspectives on issues impacting environmental quality, agriculture and forestry
  3. Opinions on the priority of these issues
  4. Recognition of who/which organizations may already be working on these issues
  5. Ideas on how to address the gaps with actions and program opportunities to address these issues

If you need special accommodation to participate in this activity or event (e.g., Braille, large print, audiotape – captioning, etc.), please contact belknapconservation@gmail.com or Cell#/Text 603-527-5880.
