Our Amazing Grasslands - Kammerer Family ~ Piedmont, South Dakota

Karlie, Jimmie, Riley, Kymbal, and Katelyn Kammerer.

“We had to decide what our priorities were and we decided that we needed to be better at grazing management and stockmanship, so that’s where we threw our effort. It was a minimal cost to get into that. We learned as we went through the process what we were doing and how to graze differently.”

Riley Kammerer

In this eight minute video, we visit with the Kammerer Family in Piedmont, South Dakota. The Kammerer family have been ranchers for six generations, and upon returning to their ranch in Piedmont, the Kammerer's decided to ensure that it lasts for future generations with regenerative agriculture. Their regenerative ranching journey has led to success and the Kammerer's now share their measured stewardship with the next generation of farmers and ranchers as ambassadors.

The South Dakota Grassland Coalition (SDGC) partnered with the organizations listed below to enhance the Grassland Planner with a release of a short video story each month during 2023, promoting healthy soils, grasslands, and ecosystems.
