Apply by October 20 for funding.

HAMILTON SQUARE, N.J., Sept. 12, 2023 – Funding is available for farmers in the Raritan Basin to implement projects and practices to improve local soil and water quality through a Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) agreement between The New Jersey Water Supply Authority (NJWSA) and the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The target location includes portions of Hunterdon, Mercer, and Somerset Counties. Applications will be accepted through Friday, October 20, 2023.

RCPP promotes coordination of NRCS conservation activities with partners that offer value-added contributions to expand the collective ability to address on-farm, watershed, and regional natural resource concerns. Through RCPP, NRCS seeks to co-invest with partners to implement projects that demonstrate innovative solutions to conservation challenges and provide measurable improvements and outcomes tied to the resource concerns they wish to address.

Practices that may be available for funding include:

  • Diversions and waterways that provide erosion control
  • Fencing to exclude livestock from streams
  • Cover crops to improve soil health and prevent soil erosion
  • And more...

Farmers who operate in the Raritan Basin are encouraged to contact their local NRCS service center to determine eligibility. To confirm your land falls within the targeted area, click here to view a searchable map.
