Public Scoping Meetings for Bay of Fundy Watershed Plan and Environmental Assessment Project Set for Nov. 13 and 14

Meetings held to discuss the proposed Bay of Fundy Watershed Plan and Environmental Assessment project in Washington County.

­­­BANGOR (Oct. 30, 2024) – The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the State of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries, and State of Maine Department of Marine Resources are sponsoring Public Scoping Meetings to discuss the proposed Bay of Fundy Watershed Plan and Environmental Assessment project in Washington County, Maine.

The first meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, at the Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, YCC Building, 103 Headquarters Rd., Baring, Maine, at 6 p.m.

The second meeting will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, at the Cobscook Institute, 10 Commissary Point Rd., Township of Trescott, Maine, at 6 p.m.

Representatives from the local sponsors and NRCS, along with their consultants, will: provide information on the Watershed Plan and Environmental program, and planning activities to date for the Bay of Fundy project; describe the various alternatives being considered for aquatic organism passage; answer questions and concerns about the planned activities; and seek public input.

Federal funding has been received to assist the local sponsors in developing the plan but has not yet been secured for the design or construction of these projects.

The Passamaquoddy Tribe is the lead partners of this project.
