The ACT NOW Application Process - COLORADO

ASK THE NRCS IF YOUR APPLIATION CAN BE PROCESSED THROUGH ACT NOW!

NRCS has developed a faster process to approve producer applications for its conservation programs. Using its “Act Now” authority, NRCS can now pre-approve applications when they meet or exceed a pre-determined minimum ranking score. Applications are ranked according to local resource concerns, the amount of conservation benefits the work will provide, and the needs of applicants.

Applications for eligible practices that meet or exceed pre-determined minimum ranking thresholds will be considered for priority funding when applying to the EQIP and CSP Programs.  No special application is required to be eligible for funding through the Act Now process.

This means funding decisions can be made without having to wait for all applications to be reviewed and ranked. This can potentially allow farmers to start conservation projects earlier instead of waiting long periods to know if a project will be funded.

[BO1]AMA may be deleted if the program is not used in your state. RCPP may be deleted if your state does not have a project that has negotiated the ability to use Act Now. The program name hyperlinks should be replace to link directly to your state program pages.

The NRCS in Colorado offers applicants two avenues to receive financial assistance, the traditional funding process and the ACT NOW process, for certain Farm Bill program opportunities.

  1. FY-24 EQIP Traditional Funding Opportunities - NRCS's traditional funding process involves the installation of more complex practices and systems which require more planning and design.
  2. FY-24 EQIP ACT NOW Funding Opportunities - NRCS's ACT NOW process allows producers the opportunity to apply for applicable NRCS funding and potentially know if their project will be funded in an expedited manner. These projects involved less complex practices and limited design.

Producers interested in the ACT NOW process must have fully established eligibility records with the Farm Service Agency (FSA) and should be prepared to provide information about your anticipated crop rotation, any soil testing, and other relevant resource information like a nutrient management plan, soil health assessment, and pest management plan, including a chemical list for crop fields you wish to enroll. This preparedness will help to facilitate planning your project. You will also want to ensure that you have worked with the Farm Service Agency (FSA) to update all your agricultural producer records for the previous fiscal year.

PLEASE NOTE

All ACT NOW fund pool allocations are an initial allocation and are subject to change based on eligible applications in each ranking.
