Curtis Scott, Soil Conservationist in Clayton, New Mexico, Team 6, Selected as the NRCS New Mexico Employee of the Month for July 2024
Congratulations to Curtis Scott, Soil Conservationist in Clayton, New Mexico Team 6 (Clayton, Roy, Tucumcari). Curtis has been selected as the New Mexico Employee of the Month for July 2024.
In addition to performing his regular duties he provided assistance with developing conservation plans and contracts on preapproved applications, performing checkouts on completed practices, and providing assistance with training two new employees in the Mora Field Office. Because of staffing shortages, there was nobody else in Team 4 (Raton, Mora, Las Vegas) to assist, so Curtis came from Team 6 to help cover the duties in Mora.
As a result of his efforts, the Mora field office has one of the heaviest contracting workloads in the North Area this year, with a total of 24 preapproved applications for $2.5 million. While there is still a lot of work left to be done, without Curtis's help there would have been a massive backlog for the Mora field office to do in one month. Additionally, Curtis's assistance provided a stabilizing presence for new employees as they start their career with NRCS.
Congratulations on all of his hard work.
