The local work group includes representatives from federal, state and local conservation organizations and is open to all agricultural producers and forest owners/managers. The Greenbrier Valley Conservation District in cooperation with USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will hold a local work group meeting to discuss conservation programs for 2024-2025 and provide guidance for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). The meeting will be held Wednesday, May 29 at 9:00 a.m. at the Lewisburg USDA Service Center conference room located at 179 Northridge Drive, 1 mile north of the I-64/219 interchange. If you have thought about applying for one of the programs NRCS has to offer or have questions about what might be available to you, this meeting is a great opportunity for you to learn more. As part of NRCS’s locally led process of administering programs, public comments will be sought from attendees on how to best prioritize USDA dollars for your local area.
The Greenbrier Valley Conservation District covers Greenbrier, Monroe, and Pocahontas Counties. NRCS District Conservationist, Dorian Perez and his staff work from NRCS field offices in Lewisburg and Buckeye to cover Greenbrier and Pocahontas counties. NRCS District Conservationist, Wanda Smith and her staff work from the Union field office to cover Monroe County.
