Soil Colors

Soil Color tells us stories on how the soil formed. The first impression we have when looking at bare earth or soil is of color. Bright colors especially, catch our eye and soil color can vary with ecosystems. The stories soil colors tell us vary with the ecosystems in which the soils formed and are influenced by parent material and some other factors. Soils come in different shades. Most shades of soil are black, brown, red, gray, and white.
