Pearson Eddy Public Meeting

The Natural Resources Conservation Service is proposing to complete planned wetland restoration actions on lands under permanent conservation easements, enrolled under the Wetland Reserve Program (WRP). The planned actions will restore some of the historic natural wetland functions and values of the site and enhance fish and wildlife habitat. Planned actions will involve:

  • replacement of a failing water control structure that aids in preventing excessive spring time flooding to farm fields
  • habitat enhancements including tree and shrub planting
  • micro-topography excavations to replicate historic floodplain channels and depressions
  • decommissioning of old drain ditches.

As a part of the NRCS Environmental Assessment process, we advertised and conducted a public meeting to provide an overview of the planned project and to solicit public comment. Future posts to this site will include documentation requested by the public and the draft Environmental Assessment document.

Presentations that were given at the public meeting in Monroe, WA on December 15, 2016 are linked to below.
