Rapid Watershed Assessment

As of May 2018, NRCS in Vermont has not conducted any Rapid Watershed Assessments (RWA) in the state. In short, this process is a way to characterize a watershed in order to better target conservation dollars. The purpose of RWA is to provide estimates of where conservation investments would best address the natural resource and social concerns within a watershed. Typical data layers used in RWA are: land-use / land-cover, annual precipitation, national wetlands inventory, impaired streams, water quality monitoring sites, Agricultural Census data, etc.
