The video was produced by Joey Williams, a student at the University of South Carolina and an Earth Team volunteer in the South Carolina State Office!

What is the Earth Team?
In 1981, Congress authorized the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), formerly the Soil Conservation Service, to accept volunteers to increase soil and water conservation efforts, and to do this by working closely with Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
Earth Team volunteers work side by side with professionals from NRCS, helping to protect and conserve the earth's natural resources. By volunteering, you will help your community, your country and our earth. Earth team members also meet new people, learn new skills and help accomplish conservation work throughout the state. It's fun and easy. The mission of the Earth Team is to provide an effective volunteer workforce within NRCS to help people conserve, improve and sustain our resources and environment.

Who Can Volunteer?
Volunteers can help expand efforts in soil and water conservation. Anyone 14 years or older and interested in saving our precious soil and water can join the Earth Team. Volunteers may work part-time, full-time, outdoors or in an NRCS office.
Where Volunteers Can Help
On the Land - with professional conservationists who are working directly with farmers and ranchers.
In schools - with elementary and high schools, college and university students. Through camps and classes, you can introduce young people to the wonders of nature.
With organizations - youth groups, professional societies, or civic groups. All types of organizations are joining together to sponsor water quality education campaigns, community beautification, and erosion control projects. Cooperative Earth Team efforts can help solve many natural resource problems in your area.
In offices - where NRCS or your conservation district may want to use your talents for clerical assistance, organizing information in a computer, preparing newsletters, or educating others about natural resource conservation.

How to Sign up for the Earth Team
You can apply at your local NRCS Office or USDA Service Center. NRCS will give you an application form asking for any special qualifications, experience, interests and hobbies; your past or present employment; and the schedule you would like to work. The Earth Team Volunteer application is also available below.
