Maryland Farmers Help Save the Bay

Approximately 28 percent of Maryland’s land is in agriculture, with over 12,000 farms in operation. A thriving and sustainable agricultural sector is critical to restoring the Chesapeake.

NRCS field offices in all 23 Maryland counties provide technical and financial assistance to landowners. These landowners implement conservation practices that help improve the water quality of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. Learn more about Maryland NRCS' efforts in the watershed.
