September 24, 3:00 p.m. ET – The 2017 National Resources Inventory 5-year Release, 35 Years of National Resources Monitoring.

The National Resources Inventory (NRI) program collects and produces scientifically credible information on the status, condition, and trends of land, soil, water, and related resources on the Nation’s non-federal lands. The NRI samples points in 49 States (excludes Alaska), Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands to assess resource quantity and quality, creating a longitudinal data set containing variables from 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, and annually from 2000 through 2016. This unique data set provides a foundation over time for regular resource appraisals on the effectiveness of soil and water conservation practices, irrigation techniques, and farming technologies, techniques, and practices. This presentation will provide an overview of the NRI and will include highlights from the 2017 NRI data release (to be released in September 2020) as well as an explanation of the types of data available and how to get access to it.
