Volunteer stories

Earth Team Volunteer Rondell Ford and National Earth Team Coordinator Michele BrownEarth Team volunteers across the nation help NRCS accomplish its mission.

Rondell Ford has volunteered more than 1300 hours organizing and managing NRCS' photo gallery.

"I had studied multimedia in college, but over time I gradually drifted away from this field. I was looking for an opportunity that would help me rekindle my lost passion for photography," Ford said. "I saw this as a chance to refresh my skill-set and to acquire some new tricks, while engaging with others in a professional environment."

“Whether Earth Team volunteers donate a year, a month or a lifetime to help producers improve their natural resources, the impacts of volunteer efforts are felt far and wide,” said Michele Brown,  previous NRCS National Volunteer Coordinator.

Whether it’s showing your support for your community, assisting natural resource conservation, gaining professional experience or contributing your professional knowledge after retirement, there are plenty of great reasons to become an Earth Team volunteer.

Volunteering and helping others can help you reduce stress, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose by making a meaningful contribution for a better environment and a better tomorrow!
