Ogallala Aquifer Initiative

Special funds available to support Ogallala Aquifer

The National Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) Ogallala Aquifer Initiative will help convert irrigated land to dry land. Wyoming is one of eight states involved in the initiative and the following counties are eligible: Converse; Niobrara; Platte, Goshen; Laramie.

The purpose of the initiative is to provide producers with financial and technical assistance to reduce the quantity of water removed from the Ogallala Aquifer and to improve water quality using conservation practices on cropland and rangeland. For more information and to sign up for the initiative, please visit your local NRCS field office.
