MORGANTOWN, W.Va., October 19, 2021– The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announces the end of the first FY22 application evaluation period for the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP), the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP-EQIP), and the Agricultural Management Assistance Program (AMA). Producers interested in being considered for financial assistance need to submit applications to NRCS by November 5, 2021.

EQIP is a voluntary conservation program that helps agricultural producers in a manner that promotes agricultural production and environmental quality as compatible goals. Through EQIP, agricultural producers receive technical and financial assistance to implement structural and management conservation practices that optimize environmental benefits on working agricultural land.

RCPP- EQIP encourages partners to join in efforts with producers to increase the restoration and sustainable use of soil, water, wildlife and related natural resources on regional or watershed scales.  Through the program, NRCS and its partners help producers install and maintain conservation activities in selected project areas. West Virginia is currently accepting RCPP-EQIP applications for improvement of aquatic species within targeted areas in the Potomac River Watershed.

The AMA program provides financial and technical assistance to agricultural producers to voluntarily address issues such as water management, including irrigation systems, water quality, and erosion control by incorporating conservation into their farming operations; and mitigate risk through production diversification.

EQIP, RCPP-EQIP, and AMA are open to all eligible agricultural producers and submitted applications may be considered or evaluated in multiple funding pool opportunities.

Local NRCS offices accept program applications year round. Application evaluations only take place during announced ranking periods. For consideration in the first round of 2022 federal fiscal year funding, eligible landowners must enroll by submitting their application no later than November 5, 2021.
