News Release

Potomac Valley Conservation District local work group meeting scheduled, March 9.

Rebecca Haddix

The Potomac Valley Conservation District in cooperation with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will convene a local work group meeting to discuss conservation programs for 2020-2021 and review the long-range plan while identifying local natural resource concerns, reviewing current project plans, and discussing options for future projects.

The local work group includes representatives from cooperating federal, state and local agencies, conservation organizations, and is open to the public. Local farmers, agricultural producers, and forest owners/managers are encouraged to attend. If you have thought about applying for one of the programs NRCS has to offer or have questions about what might be available to you, this meeting is a great opportunity for you to learn more. As part of NRCS’s locally led process of administering programs, public comments will be sought from attendees on how to best prioritize USDA dollars for your local area.

There are two NRCS District Conservationists that support the Potomac Valley area: Doris Brackenrich covers Grant, Hardy and Pendleton Counties; Christi Hicks covers Mineral and Hampshire Counties.

The Potomac Valley Conservation District local work group will meet at the Moorefield USDA Service Center conference room, 223 North Main Street, Moorefield, at 6:30 p.m., March 9.  For more information contact Brackenrich at 304-578-9131, or Hicks at 304-822-3020 ext. 101.
