EQIP WaterSmart second signup window announced for Kittitas Reclamation District area

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (May 11, 2022) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Washington today set the application deadline for the second signup for WaterSmart Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) program signup deadlines to June 13, 2022.

This is the second announcement for the EQIP WaterSmart Kittitas Priority Area for Fiscal Year 2022. Producers interested in applying for the program should review the Kittitas Priority Area map to determine if their location is applicable. Kittitas Priority Area map. $625,000 remains available for contracting during this second sign-up period this fiscal year. Each applicant must establish themselves as a USDA customer and attain all Farm Service Agency (FSA) eligibility requirements.

Through the EQIP WaterSmart in the Kittitas Priority Area, NRCS can assist private landowners with the implementation of irrigation conservation practices that improve watering efficiency. Examples of this program’s popular practices include: pumping plant, pipeline, sprinkler systems, irrigation water management, diversion, conservation crop rotation, etc.
