Conservation Practices

This page provides documentation related to planning or implementing conservation practices including: Vermont and National Practice Standards, Practice Information Sheets and Practice Job Sheets.

The NRCS Field Office Technical Guide (FOTG) contains technical information about the conservation of soil, water, air, and related plant and animal resources.  Technical guides used in each field office are localized so that they apply specifically to the geographic area for which they are prepared.  Conservation practice standards and associated documents are found in Section IV of the FOTG.  The conservation practices listed in Section IV of the Vermont electronic FOTG are commonly used practices in Vermont.

Visit the eFOTG here.

Conservation practice standards listed as Vermont versions have been modified to reflect Vermont local conditions and requirements. Vermont version practice standards must be used, when available, for conservation practice implementation in Vermont.
