Colchester, Vermont, October 25, 2017--The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Vermont announced two upcoming application deadlines for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). While applications are accepted at any time throughout the year, NRCS makes periodic funding selections. Eligible producers are encouraged to submit by the two upcoming ranking deadlines of either December 15th or February 16th to receive consideration for funding in 2018.

“EQIP provides tremendous support to Vermont farmers and landowners interested in addressing natural resource problems on their land," said Vicky Drew, NRCS State Conservationist. EQIP contracts provide financial assistance to help plan and implement conservation practices that address natural resource concerns and for opportunities to improve soil, water, plant, animal, air and related resources on agricultural land and non-industrial private forestland. EQIP can also help Vermont farmers meet Federal, State, and local environmental regulations. EQIP is an important Farm Bill conservation program that helps established farmers as well as beginning, historically underserved, limited resource producers, and organic farmers.

You can learn more about EQIP by visiting this link or contact your local Vermont NRCS office.
