FY20 Virginia EQIP - Documents & Procedures

Fiscal Year 2020 National Programmatic, Landscape Initiatives, and State Initiatives
Funded through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)


National Program Initiatives:

  • StrikeForce Initiatives (eligible land must be within designated StrikeForce Localities)
    Ranking Pools: Conservation Activity Plans, Cropland, High Tunnel Systems, and Livestock

  • High Tunnel Systems (non StrikeForce areas)

  • Organic Initiative (Certified and Transitional)

  • On-Farm Energy (Conservation Activity Plans)

Landscape Conservation Initiatives:

  • Long Leaf Pine Initiative

  • National Water Quality Initiative (Gap Creek, Mountain Run, and War Branch within the Smith Creek Watershed)

  • Working Lands for Wildlife (American Black Duck, Northern Bobwhite in Working Grasslands and Golden-winged Warbler)

State Conservation Initiatives:

  • Cropland (competitive on an Area basis)

  • Forestry - Longleaf Pine/Shortleaf Pine and Hardwood Management (competitive on a Statewide basis)

  • Livestock (competitive on an Area basis)

  • Wildlife - Aquatic, Hellbender, Northern Bobwhite in Pine Savannahs, and Terrestrial (competitive on a Statewide basis)

Application Deadline: Applications received by close of business February 28,2020.

Applications pre-approved for funding MUST meet all USDA Program Eligibility prior to contract obligation. For more information regarding eligibility for NRCS Financial Assistance programs, visit our Eligibility page.

Screening:

All FY20 applications for the initiatives listed above were reviewed using the FY20 EQIP General Screening Worksheet.  Applications that screened as Low will not be assessed, ranked or considered for funding until all eligible applications with a higher priority, addressing an eligible resource concern, have been assessed, ranked and considered for funding.

All Cropland and Livestock applications were screened via FY20 EQIP Cropland Screening Worksheet OR the FY20 EQIP Livestock Screening Worksheet. 

Assessment and Ranking:

  • Crop and Livestock Applications receiving a High Priority based on this screening were assessed, and ranked, using the appropriate Ranking Tool, by close of business April 3, 2020. Crop and Livestock Applications receiving a Medium priority ARE NOT assessed or ranked until all High Priority applications within the associated NRCS Service Center have been ranked.

  • All other Applications that did not receive a Low Priority screening were then assessed and ranked, using the appropriate Ranking Tool, by close of business April 3, 2020
