Web Soil Survey

Web Soil Survey (WSS) provides official soil data and maps produced by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. It provides access to the largest natural resource information system in the world.

Block Diagram Locator

More than 3,750 block diagrams (line drawings) from published soil surveys. Most of the diagrams relate soils to landscape positions. The interactive map shows the location of survey areas for which a diagram is available.

Geospatial Gateway

Provides access to a map library of over 100 high resolution vector and raster layers.

Hydric Soils

Find the most current information about hydric soils, including criteria, lists, and links to technical references and procedures.

Laboratory Data

Allows you to generate, print, and download reports containing soil characterization data from the Kellogg Soil Survey Laboratory. Data can be viewed onscreen or downloaded in comma-delimited text files for use in other applications.

Rapid Carbon Assessment

In 2010, the National Cooperative Soil Survey collected soil carbon data from more than 6,000 sites across the conterminous U.S.  Data, protocols, summaries, and maps are available.

Soil Data Express

The Soil Data Warehouse and Data Mart provide the authoritative pathway for distributing current official soil survey data to service centers and to the public. The Staging Site (also called Staging Server) is the step on this pathway where final validation of data is performed before their release.
