2020 Northeast Regional Cooperative Soil Survey Conference

June 22-24, 2020
Virtual Conference

“Soil – Our Common Wealth”

Hosted by Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), the Virginia NRCS, the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station, and Virginia Cooperative Extension. The Conference starts at 8 a.m. EST on Monday and will conclude at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Due to travel restrictions and personal health concerns from the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will be virtual with links provided through registration. All NCSS cooperators and interested parties are welcome to attend all or part of the conference by Zoom software. Registration is free to all. The hosts request pre-registration and ask for abstracts for approximately 20 oral and poster presentations. The conference will also have task force reports, committee meetings, and cooperator meetings.

The National Cooperative Soil Survey (NCSS) is a nationwide partnership whose purpose is to investigate, inventory, document, classify, interpret, and disseminate information about soil and ecological resources of the U.S. In the southern U.S., areas of greatest resource concern - and the areas for greatest potential impact of the NCSS - involve coastal zone soils, urban soils, and ecological sites. These areas of critical need, along with the digital soil mapping tools that allow NCSS partners to effectively and efficiently deliver soil and ecological site knowledge to the user community, provide the principles that will guide discussion and planning for NCSS partners at the 2020 Southern Regional Cooperative Soil Survey Conference.
