NRCS RI Announces Sign Up for
Conservation Assistance in FY 2018

Warwick, RI – November 17, 2017 - The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) encourages farmers and forestland owners to sign up for conservation assistance and funding. The funding is available for agricultural and forest land owners and managers in Rhode Island under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). Applications will be batched and evaluated on April 20th 2018. Applications for Activity Plans, such as Forest Management Plans or Grazing Management Plans, will be batched and evaluated the third Friday of each month starting December 15 until funds are expended. Funding opportunities across all programs include the Oyster Reef Restoration Initiative, National Water Quality Initiative, National On-Farm Energy Initiative, National Organic Initiative, New England Cottontail and Turtle Habitat Wildlife Initiatives. Partnership Program opportunities include Forest Bird Initiatives, the Soil Health Initiative, Stream Habitat Initiative, as well as Farm and Forest Conservation Planning Initiatives.

NRCS accepts applications on a continuous basis throughout the year, however applications are batched and considered for funding as they are received. Apply now for technical and financial assistance in Fiscal Year 2018. The first batching period closes December 15, 2017.

NRCS assistance is available to support private land owners and managers in addressing farm, field, forest, wildlife, water, and/or plant management issues including:

Erosion Control
Irrigation Systems
Fencing Grazing Systems
Farm and Forestry Conservation Plans
Forest Stand Improvement
Grazing Plans
Pasture and Hayland Planting
Pollinator Habitat
Protection of Heavy Use Areas for Livestock
Riparian Buffers
Seasonal High Tunnels
Waste Storage Facilities
Restoration and Management of Declining Habitat (Oyster Reef Restoration)
Wildlife Habitat Management and Development
Soil Health Management Plans
