Plants for Critical and Disturbed Areas

A 3.8 acre gas exploration well pad near Pindale, Wyoming. The un-vegetated area around the drill rig will be reclaimed after exploration is completed. The Plant Materials Program develops plants and establishment technology for stabilizing highly disturbed and critical areas. These products assist in the restoration of environments impacted by mining, salinity, soil acidity, transportation systems, and natural disasters. Disturbed areas are especially susceptible to invasion by noxious weeds. The program evaluates native plants adapted to difficult sites that aid in preventing the infestation of these noxious weeds.
