Southern Arizona Dust Storm Workshops

The Southern Arizona Dust Storm Workshops were held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at the Central Arizona College in Coolidge, AZ. The Southern Arizona Dust Workshops bring together a wide and diverse group of vested partners.  The 7th annual Arizona Dust Storm Workshop provided an opportunity to evaluate and discuss recent successes and also develop future endeavors and goals. The workshops are designed to strengthen existing relationships and develop new relationships to mitigate the dust problem in Southern Arizona.

Presenters and topics for the 2018 workshop included: Updates on I-10 Dust Corridor Project, John Kissinger, and Kimley-Horn; NWS Dust Polygon Warnings, Ken Waters, National Weather Service Phoenix, AZ; NMDOT Dust Mitigation Projects, Trent Botkin, New Mexico Department of Transportation; Dust Mitigation Team Update, Jamie Abbott, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and Michael Sundblom, Pinal County Air Quality; Informing Travelers Before and During Dust Storms Through Pathfinder, Mark Trennopohl, Arizona Department of Transportation; and Mitigation on Agricultural Lands, Heather Dial, USDA NRCS Tucson Plant Materials Center.
