Norman Veteran and Beginning Farmer Forum

U.S. Marine Corps veteran Calvin Riggleman holds an oregano seedling and soil on Bigg Riggs farm in Hampshire County, WV.Learn about programs and services to assist new and veteran farmers at the Farming 411 Forum on Jan. 19, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, 615 East Robinson, Norman.

“We encourage anyone, rural or urban, with an interest in farming to join us for this open forum,” said Chris Ward, a representative for Cleveland County Conservation District. “From row crops and pastures to urban ag and wetlands, there will be something for everyone.”

Representatives with Cleveland and McClain County Conservation Districts, Cleveland County Health Department, Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Oklahoma State University Extension Service, Oklahoma Tribal Conservation Advisory Council and USDA will provide information on technical and financial assistance available for beginning and veteran farmers.
