National Volunteer Week

ConservationCelebration-VolunteerWeek-WEB POSTERDuring National Volunteer Week, April 15-21, 2018, the Ohio Natural Resources Conservation Service celebrates the extraordinary service Earth Team Volunteers provide to Ohio residents and the environment.  This is a time to say thank you for being an Earth Team volunteer and a valued member of the conservation team!

The NRCS theme for this year's National Volunteer Week is “Volunteers Improve Today for Tomorrow” and there is a lot to celebrate!

Good progress has been made to improve Ohio's natural resources with the help of 4,669 Earth Team volunteers in 2017.  It’s because they believe in what we are doing to help the environment that volunteers chose to donate their time and talents to NRCS and its customers.  Volunteers worked with us and contributed 38,051 hours helping Ohio NRCS and our partners with critical conservation work.  That is valued at a whopping $918,551 in fiscal year 2017 alone.  This valuable resource allow NRCS in Ohio to stretch its available resources.

Earth Team volunteers are involved in many of the conservation projects across Ohio.  Volunteers helped NRCS professionals with streamlining processes, conducting National Resources Inventories, demonstrating cover crops, planting and harvesting People's Gardens for local food bank donations, and educating people about conservation in their communities.  Their dedication and passion reflect great credit upon the Earth Team volunteers and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.  Please join with us in celebrating National Volunteer Week as we enjoy the conservation contributions that Ohio’s Earth Team volunteers make every day.
