Essex County SWCD and NRCS-NY Announce Application Cutoff Date for Regional Conservation Partnership Program

The Essex and Washington County SWCDs in New York State have partnered with the Vermont Association of Conservation Districts and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to offer funding the in the Lake Champlain watershed through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) using Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) funding.  RCPP uses partnerships to coordinate and target resources to address regional conservation goals. 


November 2, 2018 has been selected as the application cutoff date for the final round of funding for the RCPP; applications will be accepted to address resource concerns on land in Essex County. Participants applying to address farmstead related concerns must provide their CNMP by November 2, 2018 to be considered in this round of funding. Participants applying to address forestry resource concerns must provide a copy of their forest management plan by November 2, 2018 to be eligible for consideration in this signup. All applications are competitive and are ranked based on locally identified resource priorities and the overall benefit to the environment.


This special funding will be used to implement practices to address localized priority resource concerns.  The SWCD and NRCS office will work together to provide assistance to producers in the project area in developing and implementing conservation practices.


Interested farmers and landowners should contact the NRCS office in Plattsburgh for additional information and to obtain an application.
