Cody Townsend - Grasslands Outdoor Education Day

Albuquerque, N.M. – Cody Townsend is a Soil Conservationist with Team 6 in Clayton, NM.  Cody gave a presentation on watersheds at the Grasslands Outdoor Education Day. The audience included over 150 4th through 7th grade students from Felt, Oklahoma; Texline, Texas; Clayton, NM.  Partners at the event included U.S. Forest Service, Oklahoma Fish, and Game and NM Department Game and Fish.

This event reached students and partners from three states.  The scope of this outreach extends beyond Cody's normal work area by including partners and students outside New Mexico.  Because of his efforts, the Grasslands Outdoor Education Day introduced NRCS and watershed health to over 150 students with the long-term goal of recruiting students to careers in natural resources.
