Adrian Tafoya, 2018 New Mexico Civil Rights Employee of the Year

Albuquerque, N.M. –Adrian Tafoya recognized as the 2018 Civil Rights Employee of the Year

Adrian was recognized for his willingness to take on an Operation Warfighter Intern providing an opportunity for a service member to gain experience in the civilian workforce.  During his detail as acting Area Conservationist, Adrian jumped on this opportunity and continued working with this individual once he returned to his District Conservationist position.  Adrian coordinated with Teams 7 and 9 to provide both field time and office work to allow this intern an opportunity to learn all aspects about the agency and conservation.  As the first OWF intern in the State of NM it took some extra effort and a leap of faith on Adrian’s part to learn the program, ensure all the correct forms were completed, time was recorded, etc.

There were a lot of unknowns and this did not slow Adrian from jumping on the opportunity.  Adrian’s contributions advances the Secretary’s Civil Rights statement of USDA employees dedicating themselves to developing and cultivating relationships with veterans in order to foster a collaborative environment.

Adrian Tafoya has received the award for his achievement and recognition.
