David Griego -  Interagency Collaboration

Albuquerque, N.M. – David coordinated a conservation tour for attendees of the Western Regional Partnership (WRP) meeting conducted in Santa Fe, NM.  The tour included site visits to a local acequia project, the Puye Cliff Dwellings, as well as forestry operations and EWPP on Santa Clara Pueblo.

As a planner on Team 3, David is not involved in the WRP.  However, he took the initiative to learn about the WRP and determine appropriate sites for the conservation tour. David then coordinated with multiple agencies, tribal elders and other high ranking tribal officials, as well as the Acequia Mayordomo, to schedule site visits, secure appropriate permissions for access, ensure speakers were available, coordinate PowerPoint presentations, etc.  This effort took a considerable amount of time over and above his regular work responsibilities.

As a result of his efforts, the tour allowed the WRP to experience the results of interagency collaboration in the field.  David successfully demonstrated how conservation planning and implementation supports the WRP and protects natural and cultural resources, while promoting sustainability, homeland security and military readiness.  The tour facilitated communication between multiple partners and NRCS leadership, which will ensure continued collaboration on conservation projects moving forward.

David will receive an award for his achievement and recognition.
